The 2002 vintage began early with budbreak occurring in mid March. By mid May the vineyard was under cloudy skies, and light rain reduced the fruit set. From June until August the weather was relatively cool, with daytime high temperatures in mid 70s to low 80s. This mild weather caused slow ripening of the fruit, while cold nights retained grape acids.
The 2002 Sauvignon Blanc is greenish straw in color and is intense in tropical fruit aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit and guava, with hints of mineral and lemon-lime. On the palate this wine is bursting with tropical citrus flavors. This classic Sauvignon Blanc finishes with crisp and lingering citrus peel notes.
