Voss introduces new winemaker, Michael Lancaster5 April 2007 Napa, CA – Voss Vineyards today announces the appointment of winemaker Michael Lancaster to the team. His talent for crafting premium Sauvignon Blanc and Rhone varietals, coupled with passion and creativity, is a natural fit for the limited production wines of Voss Vineyards. Canadian born, Lancaster graduated from the University of Western Ontario, completed his winemaking studies at University of California Davis, then worked at both Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma, and Quail Ridge Cellars in Napa. Michael will take over Voss Vineyards wine production from winemaker Brian Mox (2005 – 2007) and long-time Voss winemaker Steve Fennell (1999 – 2005). "This is a terrific opportunity – crafting such a distinctive Sauvignon Blanc, and I’m excited to spend more time on both Syrah and Viognier", enthused Michael. Mark Evans, Managing Director, Negociants USA commented, "Michael comes to us with a great winemaking pedigree. He's been a fan of Voss wines for many years, since he and Steve studied at UC Davis together actually, and he has the creative thinking and energy to keep Voss going from strength to strength." About Voss Vineyards: In 1994, Voss Vineyards was conceived and founded by Australian, Robert Hill-Smith, the fifth-generation proprietor of Yalumba Winery in Barossa Valley, as well as the proprietor of Nautilus Estate in Marlborough, New Zealand, among others. Intrigued by the quality and regional nuance of the Napa Valley and Carneros, Hill Smith applied his family-expertise in Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Syrah in Australia & New Zealand to craft small production wines locally under the Voss Vineyards label. Today Voss Vineyards produces the very limited release Voss Vineyard Viognier (SRP $26), Voss Vineyard Syrah (SRP $20), and Voss Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc (SRP $19). Voss Vineyards is managed domestically by Negociants USA. Contact: Angela Slade PR/Marketing Manager, Negociants USA Tel: 707 259 0993 Cell: 415 819 5131 Email aslade@negociants.com |
